Our story
Built between sorties, for the people who fly them
Base Crashpads was founded in 2022 by Daniel Denkinger, an active-duty Air Force pilot and licensed real estate agent, after too many TDYs spent watching per diem disappear into cramped hotel rooms.
The idea was simple: military members deserve a home away from home when the mission takes them on the road. Fully furnished houses, condos, and apartments near the base. Kitchens you can actually cook in. Desks you can actually study at. Priced at the government lodging rate, documented for DTS, and flexible when orders change — because the founder files the same vouchers you do.
Our network supports military travelers from every branch. Explore 124 base guides to plan your assignment, then request lodging for your dates. We confirm each home's availability and personally source options where our host network is still growing.
Why "crashpad"?
Ask any aircrew member: a crashpad is where the crew actually lives between flights. It's shorthand for a place that's affordable, close, comfortable, and shared with people who get it. That's the standard every one of our properties is held to.
Who's behind it
Daniel runs the company with a small team of real estate professionals and military spouses. Every property is selected the way an aircrew member would pick it: commute time to the gate, neighborhood safety, parking, WiFi speed, and whether the kitchen can survive a four-person meal prep Sunday.
Mission-ready lodging
The mission is lodging worthy of the mission.
