10 common questions
What is a military crashpad?
A crashpad is fully furnished off-base lodging built around military travel: priced at or below the government lodging (per diem) rate, flexible to orders changes, and documented with itemized receipts for your travel voucher. Instead of months in a hotel room, you get a real home near the base — kitchen, laundry, workspace, and parking included.
How does pricing work?
Stays are priced at or below the government lodging rate for the local area. You pay for lodging, submit our itemized receipts with your DTS voucher, and get reimbursed — for a typical TDY, that means zero out-of-pocket lodging cost.
Who can stay in a crashpad?
Active duty, Guard, and Reserve members on TDY or training orders make up most of our guests, but government civilians, contractors on official travel, and PCS-transition families are welcome too. Every branch is welcome — Air Force, Space Force, Army, Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.
How do I book a stay?
Send an inquiry with your base, dates, and reason for stay (B-Course, PIT, RPA, tech training, exercise — whatever your orders say). If you request a home, we check it first and match you there when available. If unavailable, or for a general inquiry, local hosts confirm availability and our team sends up to three offers. Review the price, included perks, and decision deadline before choosing. No booking fees.
What's included in every stay?
Every approved home is furnished with utilities, WiFi, a kitchen, and laundry included. Other amenities vary by property. Cleaning, gift cards, and stipends are included only when specifically shown in your offer before you choose.
What if my orders change or my class gets moved?
It happens constantly and we plan for it. Lease terms are built to flex with orders mods, washbacks, and early graduations — talk to us as soon as your dates move and we'll adjust.
Do you provide receipts for DTS?
Yes. Every stay comes with itemized, DTS-ready receipts, and we've helped hundreds of travelers file clean vouchers. The founder is an active-duty pilot — we know exactly what finance needs to see.
Can my spouse or pets join me?
Often, yes — several properties accommodate spouses, families, and pets. Note any special accommodations on your inquiry and we'll match you to a property that fits.
Do I get my own room?
Yes — private bedrooms are the standard. Depending on the property you may share common spaces (kitchen, living room) with other TDY travelers, or you can book an entire home for yourself or your crew.
Is there a minimum stay?
Crashpads work best for stays of two weeks or longer — TDYs, training courses, and duty periods. Shorter stays are sometimes possible when rooms are open; just ask.
