Lodging
Short-term stays on base are handled through two official facilities: the Navy Lodge and Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS).
NGIS is the larger option, with 141 rooms including suites that feature a private bath, kitchenette, and amenities like free Wi-Fi and premium cable channels.
For those traveling with an RV, MWR manages an RV lodging area with water, electric, sewage and dumpster hookups, open to active-duty members, retirees, DoD civilians and reservists on a space-available basis. Pet owners should note the two-pet-per-site limit and documentation requirements for stays longer than 30 days.

Housing & nearby communities
On-base family housing is operated by Liberty Military Housing under a public-private venture with Navy Region Southwest, comprising 1,628 units for officer and enlisted families behind a secured base perimeter.
Single junior enlisted members (E1–E3) are required to live in unaccompanied housing, which spans roughly 2,400 spaces across 20 buildings within walking distance of the galley and fitness center.
Anyone considering off-base rentals should factor in that the cost of living in Lemoore is generally moderate, but some rental properties — particularly larger homes or pet-friendly listings — can exceed BAH, so it pays to compare several options before signing a lease.

What to look for in a furnished home
A home that fits your routine
Build your shortlist around the life you will actually lead during this assignment. A quiet bedroom, a table large enough for studying, reliable internet and a usable kitchen often matter more over several months than a long amenities list. Ask to see the workspace and cooking equipment in the listing photos. If two travelers share a home, check the number of private bedrooms, bathroom arrangements and parking spaces before comparing the price. A second bed in a living room is a different arrangement from a second bedroom.
Compare the full arrangement
Look at the complete stay, including the first and last partial months. Request a written breakdown of rent, utilities, parking, pet charges, cleaning and any deposit. Ask which services are included, whether internet is shared, and who handles maintenance. A monthly headline price alone cannot tell you the total cost. Keep the agreed dates, inclusions and house rules together so that a change to one detail does not leave the rest of the arrangement unclear.
Settle the important details early
For an extended stay, explain any unusual needs before choosing a property: shift work, a pet, a second vehicle, stairs you cannot comfortably use, visiting family or a need for a particularly quiet study area. Ask what happens if the assignment dates change and how much notice the property needs. Confirm the agreed terms in your paperwork. This guide helps you compare the area; it does not establish a particular property’s availability, included benefits or the lodging allowance approved for your orders.
Choosing a nearby community
Lemoore: the closest city-based search
Lemoore is closely tied to the naval air station and provides a logical starting point for off-base housing. Confirm whether your daily destination is on the operations side, an administrative area or another location before comparing addresses. Ask about parking, cooling, internet and a quiet bedroom, particularly for an aviation schedule that may include early or late hours. A home’s usefulness over several months depends on that routine, not simply its advertised proximity to the installation.
Hanford: a separate city to compare
Hanford is the Kings County seat and lies east of Lemoore in the San Joaquin Valley. It adds another set of residential options and a distinct city center to the search. Compare the route to the air station with the specific benefits of a property there. For a household, include school, childcare and a partner’s regular destinations. A larger search can be worthwhile, but the extra trip should be an explicit tradeoff rather than something discovered after moving in.
Other Kings County addresses: assess the setting
Kings County is part of the agricultural San Joaquin Valley, and not every address has the same relationship to Lemoore or Hanford services. If considering a property outside the city centers, check groceries, fuel, internet and maintenance access before choosing. Ask whether the rental is a private home or part of a larger property with shared facilities. The wider setting can offer a different experience, but a remote-looking address should not be selected without understanding the everyday logistics.

Schools & childcare
Families with school-age children can work with the Navy School Liaison Program, based on Avenger Avenue on base, as the point of contact for enrollment questions and coordination with local school districts. The office keeps standard weekday hours and can help bridge communication between families and area schools.
For younger children, the Navy Child Development Center on Franklin Avenue operates weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is closed on weekends and holidays, offering care within the base community rather than requiring an off-base commute.

Healthcare
Naval Health Clinic Lemoore, located on Franklin Avenue, is a Joint Commission-accredited, patient-centered medical home port clinic serving the base and surrounding Central Valley community. It maintains partnerships with civilian providers for specialty referrals when care isn't available on-site.
Urgent care is available on weekdays from 1 to 8 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., covering acute but non-emergency medical, minor surgical, and mental health needs with on-site lab and limited imaging. Anything more serious is routed to the nearest emergency department.
Maternity deliveries and gynecologic procedures requiring hospitalization are handled through an external resource-sharing agreement with Adventist Medical Center-Hanford, since the clinic itself does not perform inpatient obstetric care.

Everyday services
The Fleet and Family Support Center serves as a hub for newcomer information, including a Welcome Aboard Package for those researching the surrounding area, plus relocation assistance for lodging and housing questions.
The FFSC also runs periodic home-buying seminars covering budgeting, credit readiness, and the closing process, useful for service members weighing whether to rent or buy given the local housing market.
For everyday utility setup off base, InMyArea.com is referenced as a resource to compare providers by ZIP code, helpful for anyone settling into a rental in the surrounding communities.

Off duty
Sequoia National Park
Sequoia National Park protects mountain landscapes and giant-sequoia forests in the southern Sierra Nevada. It is a regional trip from Lemoore rather than an ordinary after-work outing. Choose the destination and road route using current National Park Service information, especially when seasons affect access. The elevation and setting differ from the valley, so prepare for the place you are visiting rather than the conditions outside the rental. Allow sufficient time for the return instead of trying to fit several mountain areas into one day.
Kings Canyon National Park
Kings Canyon National Park offers another Sierra Nevada destination, with groves, canyon scenery and a large range of terrain. Its name covers more than one visitor experience. Decide which accessible area you intend to see and confirm current road and facility status before leaving. A focused trip is more useful than navigating to a generic park marker. If your free time is limited, save the more ambitious route for a day that leaves a comfortable margin for travel.
A local day in Lemoore
Lemoore itself is worth getting to know during an extended assignment rather than using every day off for a long drive. Explore the city center, identify places you would return to and check the current local events calendar. A walk and a meal can be a complete plan when the work week has been demanding. Keeping some leisure time close to the home also makes the region feel less like a temporary stop between the base and distant national parks.

Making the most of a longer stay
Treat the aviation schedule as a housing requirement
Tell the host if you need to sleep during the day, study at unusual hours or store work equipment. Ask about window coverings, bedroom location and whether the property is shared. A home near an aviation installation may have a different sound environment at different times, so seek specific information rather than assuming a listing is quiet. If two travelers share, discuss independent schedules and vehicle use before selecting the property.
Balance valley life with mountain outings
Lemoore’s everyday setting and the Sierra parks offer very different kinds of experience. Build the weekday routine around groceries, cooling, laundry and a usable kitchen, then plan mountain visits deliberately when time and conditions fit. Do not choose housing farther from work solely because it appears closer to a weekend destination. For a longer assignment, a comfortable home base usually gives you more freedom to enjoy the region when you are actually off duty.

Local tips
Plan your ground transportation between Fresno’s airport and Lemoore before choosing flights and lodging.
If you're arranging on-base lodging, reserve early: the Navy Lodge accepts bookings up to 90 days out, and with the base's size and squadron turnover, rooms can fill quickly during peak PCS periods.
