On-base lodging cost calculator

Choose an installation and your dates — we total the published nightly rate for every night, seasonal changes included.

On base or off base?

On-base lodging is the default for most TDYs and the nightly rate is usually well under the locality cap. It's also frequently full during large classes and exercises. Total both options for your dates — this calculator for on base, the per diem calculator for off base — and if you're issued a non-A, a crashpad priced at or below per diem costs you nothing extra.

Questions

On-base lodging FAQ

Am I required to stay on base when TDY?
For most CONUS TDYs to an installation you must check with government lodging first; if a room is available you're expected to use it, and if not you'll receive a non-availability number authorizing commercial lodging up to the locality rate. Policies differ for long courses and some commands — read your orders.
Why are on-base rates seasonal at some bases?
Air Force Inns adjusts nightly rates at a handful of installations to track local demand — for example higher rates in winter at Davis-Monthan and Luke, or summer at the Academy. The calculator applies the right rate to each night.
Does on-base lodging include a kitchen?
Standard VQ rooms usually have a microwave and mini-fridge; TLF units and some suites have full kitchens. For a 3–12 month course a furnished crashpad with a full kitchen, laundry and private parking is why many students go off base with a non-A.
How current are these rates?
These are FY2027 DAF lodging rates, including the administrative edits to Eielson and JB Lindsey Graham, for nights October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2027. Choose a room category to see its published prices. Dates outside this period require confirmation with the lodging desk.
