Fort Leonard Wood Crashpad — TDY lodging that feels like home

Looking for a Fort Leonard Wood crashpad? The Maneuver Support Center of Excellence in the Missouri Ozarks trains the Army's engineers, military police, and CBRN specialists, runs Basic Combat Training, and hosts Marine, Navy, and Air Force engineer students, so officers, NCOs, instructors, and joint-service students are on orders here for months at a time. A furnished crashpad in St. Robert or Waynesville priced at or under the $110 government lodging rate beats a chain hotel at the I-44 interchange when you are here for a whole BOLC or Captains Career Course.

Why stay in a crashpad near Fort Leonard Wood?

Fort Leonard Wood covers more than 60,000 acres of Ozark hills between Rolla and Lebanon on Interstate 44, and its whole purpose is training. Three schoolhouses run officer, warrant officer, and NCO courses for three branches at the same time, the 1st Engineer, 14th MP, and 3rd Chemical brigades push tens of thousands of trainees a year through BCT, OSUT, and AIT, and the joint detachments add Airmen, Marines, and Sailors to the same ranges and classrooms. That tempo never really stops, so course starts stack up all year and the on-post IHG Army Hotels fill early, especially in summer and around the big BOLC and career course starts. The off-post market is small: St. Robert is a strip of chain hotels and restaurants at exit 161, Waynesville is the county seat a few minutes west, and Rolla and Lebanon are each about half an hour out. A crashpad gives you a real kitchen, a washer and dryer, a driveway, and a quiet street instead of a hotel room by the interstate, and it lets a long course feel less like a long hotel stay.

Fort Leonard Wood crashpad FAQs

What is the FY2026 per diem rate for Fort Leonard Wood?
Fort Leonard Wood, St. Robert, and Waynesville fall under the standard CONUS rate for FY2026: $110 a night for lodging and $68 a day for meals and incidentals, with the first and last travel days paid at 75 percent. There is no seasonal rate for Pulaski County. FY2027 rates take effect October 1, 2026, so check the GSA table if your course crosses the fiscal year.
Do I have to stay on post at Fort Leonard Wood when I am TDY?
Army travelers are generally expected to check on-post lodging first. IHG Army Hotels runs Foster Lodge, Morelli Heights, Candlewood Suites Building 2020, and Warrior Lodge on post, and if they cannot house you for your dates they issue a certificate of non-availability that lets you lodge off post at per diem. Some course rosters are block-booked, so ask your schoolhouse what your orders say before you commit to an off-post place.
Where should I stay off post at Fort Leonard Wood?
St. Robert is the closest and most convenient: it sits right at the I-44 exit 161 interchange, five to ten minutes from the Main Gate, with the hotels, restaurants, and grocery stores. Waynesville, the county seat just west, is quieter and about ten to fifteen minutes from the gate. Rolla and Lebanon have more rentals and a bit more to do but add a half-hour drive each way on I-44.
