Peterson SFB Crashpad — TDY lodging that feels like home

Looking for a Peterson SFB crashpad? Peterson sits on the east side of Colorado Springs, sharing a runway with the city airport, and it hosts NORAD, U.S. Northern Command, and Space Operations Command — which means a steady stream of TDY staff officers, Guardians, and reservists all year. A furnished crashpad priced inside the Colorado Springs government rate gives you a real kitchen and a quiet room instead of a hotel corridor off Powers Boulevard.

Mission

Space Base Delta 1 — base operating support for NORAD, U.S. Northern Command, Space Operations Command, and more than 110 mission partners

Why stay in a crashpad near Peterson SFB?

Peterson Space Force Base is the hub of military Colorado Springs. Space Base Delta 1 runs the installation and supports more than 110 mission partners, headlined by NORAD and U.S. Northern Command, Space Operations Command, and Mission Delta 2, which tracks tens of thousands of objects in orbit. The Air Force Reserve's 302nd Airlift Wing flies C-130Hs from the same runway the Colorado Springs Airport uses, including the MAFFS aerial-firefighting mission every wildfire season. Roughly 9,800 active duty, reserve, and civilian personnel work here, and exercises, conferences, and inspections keep the on-base Pikes Peak Lodge full — especially in summer, when the per diem lodging rate jumps to $168 and hotels near the airport fill with tourists headed for Pikes Peak. A crashpad gives you a furnished bedroom, a full kitchen, and DTS-ready receipts a short drive from the West Gate.

Peterson SFB crashpad FAQs

Can I stay off base at Peterson SFB on TDY?
Yes, if on-base lodging is full. Call the Pikes Peak Lodge (719-556-7851) first; if they cannot house you, you get a non-availability number and can lodge commercially at the FY2026 Colorado Springs rate — $123 lodging most of the year, $168 in June through August, plus $86 M&IE.
Which gate should I use when I arrive?
The West Gate on Stewart Avenue, just off Powers Boulevard, is open 24/7 and has the Welcome Center for visitor passes. The North and East gates keep limited weekday hours and back up during the 7-8:30 a.m. and 4-5 p.m. rushes.
Is Peterson SFB a good place to bring the family on a long TDY?
Very. Colorado Springs is one of the most family-friendly TDY towns in the Air Force — Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, and the Olympic & Paralympic Museum are all within 30 minutes, and a crashpad with a kitchen makes a month-long stay feel like living there rather than camping in a hotel.
