Crashpad vs. the cap at Fort Gordon

Lodging on TDY is reimbursed at actual cost up to the locality rate. A hotel at the cap and a furnished house at the cap reimburse identically — the difference is what you get for it. We're expanding at Fort Gordon; tell us your dates and we'll match you with an opening or a vetted option near the gate.

Three things to check before you book

  1. Government lodging first. Get the non-availability number in writing if on-base is full — here's how.
  2. Longer stays. Check seasonal rates and your travel authorization. Duration alone does not trigger the former long-term flat-rate reduction.
  3. Receipts. Nightly rate, dates, taxes, zero balance. A booking confirmation is not a receipt.

Questions

Fort Gordon per diem FAQ

What is the per diem lodging rate at Fort Gordon?
For FY2027 the Augusta, GA locality lodging rate is $113–$131 per night depending on month, plus $74 M&IE per full day ($56 on travel days).
Do I keep the difference if my lodging costs less than the Fort Gordon rate?
No — lodging is reimbursed at actual cost up to the cap, with receipts. M&IE is a flat daily amount you keep regardless of what you spend.
Is on-base lodging required at Fort Gordon?
Check government lodging first. If it's full you'll be issued a non-availability number authorizing commercial lodging up to the locality rate — a Base Crashpads crashpad priced at or below the cap then costs you nothing out of pocket.
Does the rate change during a long TDY?
The lodging cap follows the calendar month of each night, so seasonal localities change mid-stay. The former duration-based 75%/55% reduction was repealed in 2018. Confirm your applicable lodging allowance and any authorized restrictions before booking.
