Camp Lejeune Crashpad — TDY lodging that feels like home

Looking for a Camp Lejeune crashpad? Jacksonville, North Carolina hosts the largest concentration of Marines and Sailors in the world, and its schoolhouses at Camp Geiger, Camp Johnson, Courthouse Bay, and Stone Bay keep a steady stream of students, instructors, medical staff, and exercise planners on orders that run weeks to months. A furnished crashpad at or under the $110 government lodging rate beats a chain hotel on Western Boulevard when you are here for a whole course or a workup.

Mission

Home of Expeditionary Forces in Readiness — the East Coast's largest Marine Corps base, training and deploying II Marine Expeditionary Force and running the Marine Corps' East Coast infantry and engineer schoolhouses.

Why stay in a crashpad near Camp Lejeune?

Camp Lejeune is 156,000 acres of pine forest, 11 miles of Atlantic beach, and a half-dozen satellite camps strung along the New River, supporting roughly 137,000 Marines, Sailors, families, retirees, and civilian employees. II Marine Expeditionary Force plans and deploys from here, 2nd Marine Division and 2nd Marine Logistics Group cycle through predeployment workups, and every East Coast enlisted Marine passes through School of Infantry–East at Camp Geiger after boot camp at Parris Island. Add the engineer and logistics schoolhouses, Weapons Training Battalion, MARSOC, and a full naval medical center, and the result is a base where somebody is always arriving on temporary orders. The Inns of the Corps Lejeune Inn on Holcomb Boulevard is convenient but fills around class starts, large exercises, and graduation weeks, and non-availability pushes travelers into Jacksonville hotels that were built for a different price point. A crashpad gives you a real kitchen, a quiet place to sleep before a 0430 range day, and a fixed nightly rate with a DTS-ready receipt, usually 10 to 20 minutes from whichever gate you need. It also helps PCS families who land before Atlantic Marine Corps Communities housing opens up, since the wait list averages about a month and can run longer.

Camp Lejeune crashpad FAQs

Which gate should I use for Camp Geiger, Camp Johnson, or Courthouse Bay?
Camp Geiger and Camp Johnson sit off US-17 on the north side of Jacksonville near MCAS New River and have their own gates; Courthouse Bay and Stone Bay are far to the south and are best reached through the Sneads Ferry gate on NC-172. Mainside, headquarters, the hospital, and the Lejeune Inn are all inside the Holcomb Boulevard main gate. Check where your course actually meets before you book, because the drive between Camp Geiger and Courthouse Bay is close to 40 minutes.
Is a crashpad allowed on Marine Corps or Navy TAD orders?
Yes. If the Lejeune Inn issues a non-availability number, or your orders authorize commercial lodging, you can stay in any lodging that provides an itemized receipt and claim actual cost up to the $110 locality rate. Get your non-availability confirmation in writing and keep the crashpad receipt for your DTS voucher.
How far is the airport from Camp Lejeune?
Albert J. Ellis Airport (OAJ) in Richlands has American Eagle and Delta Connection service and sits about 30 miles from the main gate, roughly 35 to 45 minutes by car. Wilmington (ILM) is about an hour south and Raleigh-Durham (RDU) is about two and a half hours; most travelers rent a car because there is no practical transit onto the base.
