3 years + PIT · TDY or PCS orders

First Assignment Instructor Pilot (FAIP)

Selected at drop night to stay and instruct: PIT at Randolph on TDY, then three years back at a UPT base on PCS orders.

How lodging works on this pipeline

FAIPs live two lodging problems in a row — a per diem TDY at Randolph, then a BAH-funded PCS at Columbus, Laughlin, Vance, or Sheppard. The trick is not signing a lease at the UPT base until PIT dates are firm, and using the PIT per diem to arrive with cash.

Questions

FAIP FAQ

Should a FAIP buy a house?
A three-year assignment is where a VA loan often beats renting, especially at Columbus, Laughlin and Vance where BAH covers a house. Run the affordability and VA loan calculators before talking to a lender.
